DIY Mitt Making
Last year’s Mitt Making workshop was a fun success, so we’re doing it again.
You can select from size (S, M, L, XL) templates to DIY a pair for yourself, or gift to someone.
Materials provided for free:
- Cow Hide (Tan Coloured)
- Shearling Wool Lining
- Animal Fur Trim (for Cuffs)
- Glover Needle
- Artificial Sinew
Bring Your Own (if you have them):
- Scissors (to cut Artificial Sinew, Trim Hide or Lining if needed)
- Table Lamp or Trip Light (compliments the Hall's lighting at night -- You'll be able to see what you're working on better)
- Needle Nose Pliers or Regular Small Pliers (helps to pull the needle through the hides)
- Water Bottle
Artificial Sinew Mitt, and Lining, templates will be pre-cut, all you have to do is respectively stitch them together. This is where some hand-stitching experience will make this easier for you, though it’s not mandatory for this workshop. You’ll finish one mitt in the workshop, and the other at home.
FYI, last year’s Mitts (with Double Fleece Lining) were warm in -35C weather, this year’s version (with wool) will be just as warm if not warmer.
Must Register Online.
Nourishment included.
Keep in mind that you'll likely finish one mitt in the workshop; you can finish the other at home.
